For darker skin, concealers that cover discoloration, which tends to be dark brown/black/dark purple on us, a concealer with orange or red undertones works best (the intensity of the orange or red will depend on your skin tone-lighter oranges for lighter skin, deeper oranges for deeper skin, and redder tones for very dark skin). Something like that would be close to my complexion and be warmer in undertone to cancel out the darkness. I’m looking for a concealer to cover the discoloration under my eyes-not to highlight, just to conceal. Tarte Creaseless Under Eye Concealer has a tacky consistency to it which made me feel like “oh snaaaap, this mess is about to snatch my life!!!” But the color wasn’t warm enough to truly cover the discoloration under my eyes (and none of the other shades offered would work-they’d either be too light or too dark). I also picked up two other concealers and have some others from more brands I’ll be reviewing soon, so make sure you sign up for my blog updates so you know when a new post is up and also bookmark my concealer category. I picked up shade 57S Rich Sand in the tarte Creaseless Under Eye Concealer–it was the closest shade match to me. I wrote the brand off in my head, but like I tend to do with my personal relationships, I was willing to give them another chance once it appeared they were trying to do better. I reviewed tarte Shape Tape, the concealer the internet can’t seem to get enough of, and expressed my annoyance of their seemingly willingness to keep making ashy dark shades. So while passing time in Sephora in between meetings I had in the city, I noticed that tarte added new shades to their concealer lineup.
